Humberto Ramirez

Violin Instructor

 

Humberto Ramírez is a Colombian violinist whose work brings together performance, teaching, and artistic leadership. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at the University of Toronto under Prof. Mark Fewer. He holds a Master’s degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from Universidad Juan N. Corpas. Before moving to Canada, he served as Director of the Department of Music at Universidad del Norte, where he helped shape academic programs and led artistic initiatives, including the Barranquilla International Chamber Music Festival and the EuroCaribe Concert Series. He has also collaborated with artists and organizations such as the Colombian National Symphony Orchestra, Carlos Vives, and Monsieur Periné. Alongside his administrative work, he has maintained an active career as a performer and teacher. He has led workshops, taught at various institutions, and contributed to projects aimed at connecting musical training with broader social and cultural contexts.

Yang Zheng

Violin Instructor

Yang Zheng is an accomplished violinist and educator with extensive international experience. He served as Associate Concertmaster of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic and Macao Orchestra. As a founding member of the Bauhinia Trio, he has also performed at major international festivals. With over eight years of teaching experience, Yang’s students consistently win top competition prizes and excel in ABRSM and Trinity exams. In 2025, he received the Outstanding Teacher Award at the Global Genius Music Competition. He holds a master's degree with distinction and a bachelor’s degree with first-class honours from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

 

Alla Bokovaya

Violin Instructor

Alla holds a Bachelor of Music from Novosibirsk Conservatoire in Russia. She has over 20 years of performance experience as a violinist and soloist at the Academic Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble. Alla is also an experienced violin teacher, having taught students of all ages in Russia, South Korea and Canada. She places great emphasis on developing fundamental technical and artistic skills to help her students achieve great standings at RCM examinations and awards at musical competitions.

Yeganeh Hosseininia

Violin Instructor

Yeganeh holds both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Tehran. She is a member of the Lyra Duet, through which four original albums and several singles have been released; the albums have received international awards and recognition. Together, they perform their original works in numerous concert halls and festivals. She has also appeared as a soloist, orchestral musician, and band member in concert halls across Iran, Europe, and Canada. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has guided many students toward artistic growth and success in their musical journeys.

Katherine Chen

Violin Instructor

Katherine holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Toronto, and an Associate Diploma (ARCT) from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Violin Performance. She has more than four years of teaching experience working with students from the age of five to adults, where they learn using the Suzuki method or the RCM system. Katherine has experience with teaching theory using the RCM method, in group lessons or on a one-on-one basis, where students have built strong theoretical and practical fundamentals. Katherine’s students have completed RCM examinations, earning First Class Honours in Violin and First Class Honours with Distinction in Theory. Her students have also competed in music festivals, earning various awards. Katherine strives to teach with patience and tailor her lessons to individual students, with emphasis on training the ear and making the learning process enjoyable.
