Sally He

Cello Instructor

Sally He is a sought-after young cellist, praised for her sweet and supple sound. She began her cello studies in China at an early age, attending the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing from grades five to nine under the tutelage of cellists Xiaoming Sun and Mingqing Yu. Throughout her career, Sally has held principal chairs in various youth orchestras and the University of Toronto Opera Orchestra. She spent a year studying with Joseph Johnson, principal cellist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and completed her Bachelor of Music in Performance under the guidance of the internationally renowned cellist Shauna Rolston. As an active soloist and chamber musician, Sally has performed in masterclasses for prestigious ensembles, including the Juilliard, Brentano, and St. Lawrence String Quartets, as well as the Gryphon Trio. Beyond the classical stage, Sally is a vibrant commercial performer. In 2025, she was invited to record the score for the short film The Cut, which later garnered a nomination for Best Original Score at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. With 12 years of teaching experience, Sally is also a dedicated educator who works with students of all ages, bringing deep expertise in preparing candidates for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations.

Joseph Choi

Cello Instructor

Previously studied at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Joseph is the recipient of the Premier Young Artist Award and Music Faculty Award. In the past, he was a scholarship student at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy of the Glenn Gould School in the Royal Conservatory of Music. Joseph has won multiple awards and prizes in the Kiwanis Music Competition. He attended the Heifetz Institute in 2016, where his quartet was selected to perform and record a music video. He attended the Sitka International Cello Seminar in summer 2019, where he studied and performed with Zuill Bailey and Melissa Kraut.

Ryan Wu

Cello Instructor

Ryan Wu is a third-year student at the University of Torontoโ€™s Faculty of Music. He is currently under the mentorship of Professor Shauna Rolston and working towards a degree in cello performance. Ryan has previously played with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and as well as under the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy of the Performing Arts at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. With over 5 years of experience, Ryan has taught students from as young as 5 years old to adult, in ensemble and one-on-one settings.
